Bunnings plants are Round One....

Have taken the convenient option for first plantings, all from local Bunnings. Caps, snow peas, 2 type lettuce, basil, parsley, chives, thyme and 3 types of flowers for interest and to attract insects. Got a tomato tower too as I have seeds germinating at a rate of knots. Have arranged for organic garden mix to be delivered tomorrow so I am very excited now!!

Hi Alan's wife!! I went to school with Alan. Good on you with your vege garden! I planted my stuff just before long weekend - so I wasn't to upset that it rained that weekend cause I went away and couldn't water! I have had to add extra netting aroun my garden cause my chooks are being very pesky this year and digging up all my dirt. I got it all nicely turned over and loosened up (gotta say thanks to them for their part in the fertilizing!) then they went and scattered it all outside the beds!
Let me know how you go I am interested! I planted (yes from bunnings......where else can you buy seedlings from these days, there aren't many local nurseries left) corn, basil (3 types - the redular one for eating, the purple one for variety and there's a green one with purple streaks thru the leaves and when it goes to seed it has gorgeous purple flowers with the green leaves. I planted this one for effect!) tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce and coriander. I have a friend who has an archway in his garden for the climbing tomatoes. I thought that was clever .....at first but then last year I had trouble with birds eating my tomatoes so I am not offering up to them. I will keep them down low where I can thro a net over them. I also have some beans coming up form last year and either a zucini or a pumpkin - not sure yet!! I also have a few potatoes sprouting form las years crop. Thery are really easy to grow. well good luck and good weather to you!
